ACTING COMMERCIAL ASSISTANT POSITION AVAILABLE


(Contract from February 25th to July 9th, 2010)



Notice is hereby given of a competition to staff the position of Acting Commercial Assistant responsible for the Agriculture, Seafood and Natural Resources sector in the Commercial Section of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. This is a competition open to internal and external candidates.



Essential Qualifications:



• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, economics or international trade, or an acceptable combination of completion of secondary education and work related training in an area similar to the duties of the position.

• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices

• Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin

• 2-3 years experience in government and/or private sector in international business and trade development or other related fields

• Good computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and presentation software



Asset Qualifications:

• Previous work experience at the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei, or study or work in Canada

• Knowledge of and experience in the agriculture and seafood sector in Taiwan

• Fluency in oral Taiwanese

• Fluency in written and spoken French

• Knowledge of website management and design



Candidates experience and knowledge will be assessed, including:

• Promotional and marketing experience

• Knowledge of regulatory practices in the area of food and agriculture

• Communication skills

• Experience in dealing with trade enquiries and managing relations with a diverse client base

• Ability to set priorities, organize, and meet deadlines; ability to work independently; interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of the economic and business environment in Taiwan and Canada
